Out-of-school care (fritidshem)
All children in pre-school class up to year 6 (ages 6 to 13) who have both parents working or studying are entitled to a placement in out-of-school care when needed. Out-of-school care are not compulsory.
The regular opening hours for out-of-school care are 06:30–18:30.
- Once you have received confirmation of which school your child will attend, you can apply for out-of-school care.
- For children starting preschool class in the autumn term, applications for out-of-school care should be submitted as soon as possible, preferably before 30 April of the same year.
- For all others, applications for out-of-school care should be submitted at least one month before the desired start date.
Fees are payable for out-of-school care. For example:
07:30 – 08:30: Out-of-school care before school class – fees are payable
08:30 – 13:30: School class – free of charge but compulsory
13:30 – 16:00: Out-of-school care after school class – fees are payable

Income Comparison for Childcare Fees
Every year, the childcare services compare the income you have reported yourself with the taxed income according to the Swedish Tax Agency. The comparison is made using the income you reported two years earlier.
In the spring, you will receive an adjustment if you have paid the wrong fee previously:
- Have you paid too little? Then you will receive an additional invoice based on your taxed income and childcare placement from two years ago – this year, the check concerns the income year 2023.
- Have you paid too much? Then we will deduct the difference from your upcoming invoices or from any existing debt you have with the childcare services.
Do you wish to appeal an income correction?
If you wish to appeal an income correction, you must do so within 8 days of receiving the invoice.
