Upper Secondary School

Young people who have completed Compulsory School may choose to continue their studies in Upper Secondary School, (gymnasium) which is voluntary and free of charge.

The upper-secondary school can prepare you to begin working directly afterwards or to continue studying at vocational college or at university.

The Municipality of Ludvika has one Upper Secondary School, Västerbergslagens Utbildningsförbund (VBU). External link. VBU operates at Högbergsskolan in Ludvika, Malmenskolan in Grängesberg, and Smedenskolan in Smedjebacken. Ludvika also has one independent upper secondary school, Hitachi Gymnasiet External link., located in Ludvika.

International Baccalaureate (IB) at VBU

The VBU Upper Secondary School offers the Diploma Programme within the IB World School, an international university preparatory programme in English.
