In Ludvika you can choose to be active or just take it easy. Visit the lovely nature and enjoy the beauty of the forests or some of the many lakes and waterways. There is a wide range of outdoor activities for the entire family, both during the winter and summer. Not to forget loads of exciting music experiences, cosy events and interesting cultural activities. Ludvika simply have something for everyone!

Outdoors – summer

Long, bright days invite to activities outdoors. You can hike through the beautiful landscape at many different places; the historical Finnish settlement Rikkenstorp, Romboleden and the hiking trails around Saxdalen to name a few. Biking on some of the many gravel and forest roads within the municipality, or the paved bike lanes around lake Väsman, can be a wonderful nature experience. In Säfsen there are several miles of mountain bike trails with varying degrees of difficulty.

If you want to fish there are many lakes with plenty of fish, you can even rent your very own lake. Fishing care associations release tens of tonnes of trout and rainbow trout every year. Golf is offered at the 18-hole golf course in Hagge and the 9-hole pay-and-play course in Svanskogen.

Outdoors – winter

The white, glistening snow entice to skiing both across the landscape as well as downhill. Säfsen have 18 ski slopes with varying degrees of difficulty. There is a snow park for those who are more daring, a snow landscape for children, many kilometres of cross-country skiing tracks and lots of other fun snow activities.

In Grängesberg you find Fjällberget with two ski slopes and a snow park. If you would rather ski cross-country there are many possibilities; Grotfallet, Ljungåsen, Källbotten, Biskopsnäset and Åvallen in Nyhammar among others. Make sure not to miss Väsman WinterArena on the lakes Väsman and Burtjärn with ploughed ice-skating tracks and cross-country trails when the ice is thick enough. Furthermore, there are tracks, often with lights, at many other places within the municipality.

Family activities – outdoors

In the municipality of Ludvika there are many lovely areas for swimming and playing. A great example is Kyrkviken just outside Grängesberg. Buy ice cream in the cafeteria and enjoy the long and shallow sand beach. When in Grängesberg, don’t miss the wonderful railway museum.

At Hammarbacken in Ludvika there are activities for children, music and other type of activities suitable for all ages during the summer.

Gränges Go-kart Rental offers plenty of exciting and challenging activities at the motor stadium in Grängesberg.

Family activities – indoors

Gather the family and do something fun together. In Ludvika’s Sports Centre there is a warm and comfy lagoon for leisure water play, a spa pool, water slides suitable for all ages, a pool with 25-metre lanes, bowling alley, a well-equipped gym and a cafeteria offering coffee and lunch. In Grängesberg there is a smaller bathing facility.

At Snowcamp in Säfsen you find an indoor facility with large trampolines and a foam pit.

If you fancy a game of padel, there are indoor padel courts in Ludvika and outside courts in Hagge. In Hagge you can also find one of Sweden’s best golf courses.

There’s always something happening

Events

In the municipality of Ludvika you can find several events for the public, not least at Aveny in Ludvika Folkets hus and in the distinguished concert hall Cassels in Grängesberg. Keep an eye on visitdalarna.se, ludvika.se and our ads!

There are many recurring events. Ludvika stadslopp (city race) and the mountain bike race Finnmarksturen are two of the biggest. The National Day of Sweden and Midsummer are celebrated across several locations. Dancing around the Midsummer pole takes place at Gammelgården in Ludvika, Disponentparken in Grängesberg and at the rural community centre in Sunnansjö, to name a few.
