Welcome to the Municipality of Ludvika, Daiane Castro and Jairo Tavares Junior – what brought you here?

I had the opportunity to visit Ludvika in 2023 and fell in love with the city. We were impressed by the quality of life here, and last year, we decided to make the move. We were eager to embrace new experiences in Sweden, including its beautiful nature, language and culture, excellent education for our son, and the professional opportunities at Hitachi, says Jairo.

Tell us a little about yourselves!

We are both engineers – I’m an electrical engineer, and Daiane is a civil engineer. We’ve been married for 15 years and have a 9-year-old son. We are Brazilian citizens who love traveling, studying, and experiencing the cold and snow. Our move to Sweden was driven by the desire for a better quality of life for our family, rather than financial reasons.

What are your impressions of your new home municipality?

It’s wonderful here! It’s peaceful, the nature is beautiful, and there’s snow… Some people don’t like the snow, but we do! The people are receptive, and the city is well-maintained, clean, and safe. We already love FIKA moments. We are happy with our decision! For us, it feels like you can live a simple, comfortable life here.
