Welcome Elias

Statistics show that many people are moving to the Municipality of Ludvika, and that's why we think it's great to introduce some of them. One of them is Elias Alkhen.

Welcome to the Municipality of Ludvika, Elias Alkhen. What brought you here?

– I was studying at the vocational college in Jönköping, where we lived, and was about to start my third and final internship. During that time, I was looking for a placement and found information about a trainee programme on the Swedish Public Employment Service’s website. Spendrups had been experiencing difficulties in finding automation technicians in the local area, and one solution has been the trainee programme managed by Dala Industrisupport. Through this, they’ve been able to find the right people and train them on-site.

– I really enjoy the trainee programme, especially being able to combine theory and practice. Spendrups is a fantastic workplace – everyone is positive, takes time to show and explain things. My colleagues are kind, friendly and very helpful. I ask all sorts of questions, even silly ones, and they always respond cheerfully and give me the information I need.

Tell us a bit about yourself!

– I fled from Syria because of the war and came to Sweden in 2015. For nearly seven years, I worked as a machine operator at various companies in Jönköping, including Husqvarna and Bubs Godis. After that, I began studying to become an automation engineer at the vocational college in Jönköping.

– My family consists of my wife Dana and our daughter Elin, who is one year and two months old. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with them, as well as swimming and cycling.

What are your impressions of your new home municipality?

– As a family, we love the nature and tranquillity here – it’s a very beautiful place. We feel that moving to the Municipality of Ludvika was a good decision, especially since we want our daughter to grow up in a nice and safe community. Once I get a permanent position, we’re planning to buy a house here in Grängesberg.
