Welcome Sabrin

Statistics show that many people are moving to the Municipality of Ludvika, and that's why we think it's great to introduce some of them. One of them is Sabrin Mohamed.

Welcome to the Municipality of Ludvika, Sabrin Mohamed. What brought you here?

– I’ve lived here before. When I arrived in Sweden in 2012, we moved here. After I graduated in 2020, I moved to Uppsala to study. But due to the pandemic, everything went online and it didn’t go very well. So I moved back to my aunt’s place in Ludvika. My mother and siblings had already moved to England by then. Later I moved to Västerås and studied to become a teacher for four years. When it was time to look for a job, I thought, “Why not apply in Ludvika?” I was invited to two interviews, and in the end, I got a position at Lorensberga. My mistake was not joining the housing queue straight away, so for now I’m living with my mum.

Tell us a bit about yourself!

– I’m 24 years old and this is my first year working as a teacher at Lorensberga, teaching years 4–6. I enjoy going to the gym. I’m married and my husband currently lives and works in Saudi Arabia. The plan is for him to move here eventually. I want to stay here; I know the language and I have a good job.

– I enjoy working with children. My name means ‘patience’ in Arabic – and I have a lot of patience! At least when it comes to children.

– There’s a lot to learn when starting out as a teacher, but I have great colleagues and that really helps when you get good support. I look forward to going to work every day! The children are absolutely lovely!

What are your impressions of your new home municipality?

– This is my home; it’s where I grew up. I greet people and enjoy the sense of community. There’s still a bit of an “us and them” divide between Swedes and immigrants. But if you speak several languages, you can talk to anyone and everyone. If I see someone out walking their dog, I’ll stop and have a little chat with them. It makes them happy.

– I have a very positive impression of Ludvika – I love being here!
