Welcome Selom
Statistics show that many people are moving to the Municipality of Ludvika, and that's why we think it's great to introduce some of them. One of them is Selom Klu.

Welcome to the Municipality of Ludvika, Selom Klu. What brought you here?
– I hadn't heard of Ludvika before, but my colleagues in the Ålem parish in the Diocese of Växjö told me about the position. I thought, “let me give it a try”, applied for the job and got it. I moved here on 26 October and started on 1 November.
Tell us a bit about yourself!
– I’m from South Africa, but my mother is from Togo and my father is from Ghana. I’ve studied both philosophy and theology. I became a pastor in the Lutheran Church in South Africa, which corresponds to the Church of Sweden.
– The Church of Sweden and the South African church have a partnership, so many pastors from Sweden came there. I became interested in the Church of Sweden and wanted to learn more about the culture. I was invited to the Ålem parish in Mönsterås, and that’s what led me to come to Sweden in 2021.
– I worked in Småland and studied for two years in Uppsala. I got to know Swedish culture, which is very important as a pastor because you work with people. You need to feel love and respect in order to understand the culture, the language and the people. That love is the reason I’m here!
– I’m friendly and social and want the people around me to be happy. We live in a world full of problems, so we need to give love to others. I’m simply happy when people say hello!
What are your impressions of your new home municipality?
– There’s lots of nature and mountains, which reminds me of Lugano in Switzerland. And it’s green! Greenery gives life!
– But some services are also missing here. Many who start working at Hitachi need to get a driving licence. Why can’t they do that here? People love this municipality, but there should be things like the Migration Agency and the Tax Agency in Ludvika.
