Statistics show that many people are moving to the Municipality of Ludvika, and that's why we think it's great to introduce some of them. One of them is Tanveer Riaz.

Welcome to the Municipality of Ludvika, Tanveer Riaz. What brought you here?

– I’m an electrical engineer and recently joined Hitachi Energy Sweden in Ludvika, a global leader in power transmission solutions. The company’s reputation and innovation in HVDC technology made it an ideal place to begin my career.
– I knew very little about Ludvika before joining Hitachi Energy, but the HR team and my manager gave me a great introduction to the town and its surroundings. Their presentation of the lifestyle and community made a strong impression, and now I’m glad I made the move.

Tell us a bit about yourself!

– I’m from Pakistan. I earned my bachelor’s degree from UET in 2015, then moved to China, where I completed my master’s degree in 2018. A few years later, I continued my studies at the University of Bologna in Italy, where I pursued my PhD.
– I work as a Control & Protection Software Engineer in HVDC. My team ensures that the electricity transmitted through our equipment behaves as it should – safely, stably, and efficiently.
– Outside of work, I’m a social person who enjoys spending time with friends from different countries and cultures. I love travelling and had the opportunity to visit large parts of the world during my studies.
– I enjoy playing volleyball, badminton, and cricket. It’s great that all these sports are organised here in Ludvika. In Pakistan, we love cricket, so having it here adds to Ludvika’s charm for us.

What are your impressions of your new home municipality?

– My first impression was positive – the information I had received was accurate. The area is attractive, and the workplace is beautifully located. I also like that the weather is so varied.
– The buses should run more frequently – that would help newcomers, because when you arrive, you might not be able to buy a car right away.
