Welcome to the Municipality of Ludvika, Yahia Amireh! What brought you here?

I wasn’t completely satisfied with life in Turkey, where I was living. When the opportunity to apply for a job in Ludvika came up, I took it. It was exactly the kind of job I was looking for, where I get to work with the global energy transition.

Tell us a bit about yourself!

I’m 25 years old and from Palestine. I studied electrical engineering in Turkey, but here I work as a software engineer. I help design the "brain" of HVDC systems.

I enjoy board games, but I didn’t really have anyone to play with before. Here, I’ve found several groups to play with. Moving to a new country was tough, but meeting these people has made it much easier.

What are your impressions of your new home municipality?

Moving here has been a very positive experience. Many people are welcoming and friendly, which has, of course, made things easier. One thing I really like is the diversity in Ludvika, despite it being a small town.

I love the nature and the convenience. Here, it doesn’t take one or two hours to get around, like in Istanbul.
